Server accounts Members of the clan who are on the active roster have an account on the clan servers. This account allows you special privileges and or admin functionality while playing. When you receive a promotion to a new rank your account is simply upgraded, and you continue to use the same login method as always. This provides easier means for administering the clan throughout rank changes. There are two ways to setup a server admin account and login. The first method is to use a name and password. With this name and password, you are able to have admin on the server from any computer, and logged into any account. All you need is to have your password and change your name to the one on the roster. This login method is default, and is available to all members. The second login type is to have your account authenticated by your steam ID. You will only be able to play on the server when using your own steam account. This method requires no password, and is only available to Apprentice members and above. *Please note: Once your password is correctly setup, you will not be able to join the server unless your name matches the name found on the clan roster AND you have typed in your password, OR you are using method #2 and are logged into your own steam account. Names and passwords are case sensitive.
How to setup my password on my local computer This method will allow you to set your personal computer to automatically set up your server account anytime TF2 is started. Once you set this up, you will not need to worry about it again until you format / reinstall, or unless you are playing on another computer. Step 1) Go to the following folder "steam\steamapps\YOURSTEAMACCOUNT\Team Fortress 2\TF\cfg" Step 2) Check if you have a file called "autoexec.cfg". If you do, then skip to step #5. If not, continue... Step 3) Make sure that file extensions are on. The files should looks like this "config.cfg" NOT like this "config" Step 4) Right-click and goto New > Text Document. Name the file "autoexec.cfg" Step 5) Open "autoexec.cfg" in notepad Step 6) Add the following text into the file: setinfo "set_AUB_pass" "yourpasswordhere" Step 7) Save the file, and exit. Begin playing and have fun. Remember that admin abuse is severely punished.
What if I am playing on a computer that is not mine, or on a friends account? Instead of your user account being tied directly to your Steam ID #, we instead utilize a password system. This allows you to have admin on our servers without having to be logged into your own steam account. **Note that the console has a command memory - so before you leave the computer or let anyone else play you should exit the game completely and reopen the game to flush the console. Remember, that YOU are responsible for your password, and you should not give it out to anybody except directly to the admin(s) in charge of clan server accounts.
How do I change my password?
You will only be able to change your password when you receive a promotion. Changing passwords consumes time, and so, you will only have the opportunity to make changes to your account when changing rank. Understand that: You are responsible for your own password. Period. You are not to give it out, and are responsible for it being lost or stolen. If someone logs into your account and causes any issues you will be held directly responsible. While you are not able to change your password at any time, if you know someone has your password you may have your admin turned off, but you may stil not change your password. So make sure that you do not give it out. |
